Ants are hardy members of the insect kingdom, able to exist in environments with the most hostile living conditions unsuitable for other flora and fauna. Ants that have a sac of poison are known as the fire ant. Their “poison” is known as piperidine alkaloids.

Lastly, one of the largest and most primitive types of ants are the Australian bulldog ants. Being of a primeval type, they have only 1 chromosome.
